The development challenge
Learners and graduates often lack access to savings structures and affordable capital. LEAD SACCO cultivates a culture of savings, disciplined investment, entrepreneurship, cooperative ownership, financial inclusion and responsible credit, while serving as a practical training platform in banking, finance, accounting, governance and cooperative management.
LEAD SACCO will strengthen student retention, enterprise financing, financial literacy and practical training while creating a long-term institutional financial ecosystem.

First-year priorities
- Complete legal, regulatory and financial feasibility
- Approve the SACCO concept and membership model
- Constitute an Interim Steering Committee
- Develop bylaws, governance policies and a three-year business plan
- Mobilise and train founding members and complete registration
- Develop pilot financial products and launch controlled operations
Indicative first-year results
- At least 100 founding members trained
- At least 250 members or prospective members mobilised
- Five student savings clubs established
- Three pilot financial products developed and ten partners engaged
- Registration and governance requirements completed, subject to regulatory approval
